XPlana’s Interview with Peter Ford

This is my first post on my new weblog. So long ITCInsights, hello EduBlog Insights!

I’d like to point you to Xplana’s interview with Peter Ford ,the co-founder of Schoolblogs.

When Peter Ford was asked by Xplana which particular technology he thought held the most promise for today’s classroom or curriculum, of course, he spoke about weblogs. Part of his answer was this quote:

“Weblogs take publishing to the Web out of the hands of the File Transfer Protocol High Priesthood and put it firmly into the hands of teachers and students.”

Here’s the last question for Peter and his answer:

Xplana: If you had one billion dollars to spend on technology in education, how would you spend it?

Peter Ford: I’ll leave it up to others more qualified than me to misspend the billions. Give me 70 dollars and I’ll create a fast weblog for one classroom in one school. It could make the world of difference in the hands of a good educator.

I love it! It seems so appropriate to quote Peter Ford, as I am so appreciative of the use of the schoolblogs site that I said a sad farewell to today. As I said in my last post on ITCInsights, he and Adam Curry are trailblazers in providing FREE weblog sites for educators. I thank them!

Go read the entire interview. Kudos to Peter! There are other interviews, but I am partial to this one.
