WebQuest on blogging

I have just finished a webquest on blogging. I decided to try out Bernie Dodge’s Quest Garden. Thanks Bernie for providing such an incredible resource! I plan to introduce blogging to my elementary students with Blogging: It’s Elementary! I welcome any input about the webquest.

Great news! Our research piece on blogging has been approved. I can’t and won’t be using real student names, teacher names, or the school name. This process has taken awhile but I am so excited to be a part of this. I have learned so much in the last couple of months. So very soon I will be back in a school with a classroom teacher and an instructional technology specialist blogging with the elementary students! My focus now is to move forward with the blogging and the learning!

It’s great to see someone so excited about blogging in the classroom! I’ve started a blog based around material from Bernie’s Questgarden:

    Webquest Blog

The Webquest Blog is related to my company’s main project, K12Station:

    K12Station

I am the web developer and content manager for the site, which is a free library of over 20,000 links to educational content for K-12 teachers and students. The library makes it easy to find great sites for webquests and integrated lessons.

If you like the site, please “spread the word” and share our resources with others - perhaps you could even create a link to us on your blog. And I also post a new “Site of the Day” for teachers on my blog … you can check it out at:

    Site of the Day Blog

Thanks, and have a great day!

I am working pretty hard to get started blogging with our elementary students. Just having my teachers move through this webquest will help them see the value in blogs with students.
    Thanks for sharing!

Anne, I am impressed as usual with your dedication and you ideas that help the rest of us follow along in our own schools. I am going to distribute this webquest to all Elementary teachers and I am going to ask my Grade 11 students to work through it as well! It has fabulous concepts and gives a great introduction and more to blogging as a digital literacy tool and a valuable way to communicate and reflect. We are moving ahead with blogging at International School Dhaka, the converetd are with us for life of course, the yet-to-be-converetd are the challenge.
    Thanks again!

As a pre-service teacher, I am currently being exposed to the world of edublogs and webquests, and I happened to stumble across your blog, which combined the two concepts. Check out what I had to say at http://rfprev.blogspot.com/

    Anne,

Thanks for encouraging my student. I am excited about your Keynote with K12Online and will be in touch today about the Fireside Chat.

I would be interested in knowing more about how you liked Quest Garden. I introduced it breifly to my preservice students. Can’t wait to check out your Webquest on elementary blogging. I will share it with the teachers I work with in the Alabama project too.

It was a pleasure encouraging your student. I enjoyed reading her blog.

I did like Quest Garden. I really like the way the sharing occurs for others and how you can take one and adapt it. It is going to be a pay site though. I understood it would be this month but I have not heard about that yet though. I have used TeacherWeb.com for webquests many times with students here. They are free and easy to use also. The sharing part with Quest Garden is so good though and I really like how Bernie has set all that up.

Great job you’re doing with the K12 Online Conference!
