Speak Out on Technology!
OK, here’s
your chance to speak out on technology and do it in such a way that a
lot of kids might just learn from it. I plan to get a lot of kids
(elementary and high school) plus pre-service teachers to read this
post so if you could comment on this post it
would be MOST appreciated! It would be even more appreciated if you got
some of your kids reading A School of Voices. My goal is to get the
conversations going. Also, if any of you would like to make an
occasional post yourself just let me know and I’ll make you a guest
author!

When you come across some form of technology which lets you do something different, get in the habit of thinking to yourself “…..and what can it do for me?”. It may be cool, it may be clunky, it may be weird….it may be useless! But if it can let you do something you want to do - work more flexibly, work in a group, work on your own, organise data or ideas or archives - then it’s worth trying it out. Also, never think that there is something wrong with YOU if you can’t get it to work - the golden rule should be that there are no such things are dumb questions, only dumb instructions (but make sure you try reading the instructions first!).
Oh, and if it isn’t fun, there’s probably something wrong….

I am currently taking a technology class for my undergraduate degree. During this class we had to search for a technology website that would be useful for future as well as current teachers. This program also have a free download trial that is very helpful. It is a great site to get information off of for parents as well as students. It is easy to follow and the website is set-up to benefit anyone who lacks internet skills. Hope everyone enjoys this web-site as much as I did. Good Luck ~ Heather Harris
